It's an accepted fact that one's tastes in food are absolutely individual and subjective. And no more so than for two of life's staples - wine and cheese. Nevertheless, there are certain individuals who are blessed with extraordinary palates and a lifetime's experience with these foods - whose opinions about quality, longevity, value and complementary food and wine matches can help all of us.
That's why from our launch in 2003 we've had two of Canada's top wine experts Tony Aspler and David Lawrason taste the new releases from our over 40 partner wineries to see if the wines meet their standards. We list, promote and sell those wines that do make the cut - and for these wines, David and Tony each write a review and rate the wine (Good, Very Good, Very Good + and Outstanding). We then select the best of these each month for our WINE of the MONTH CLUB.
Similarly, we ask Debbie Levy an acknowledged expert on Canadian artisanal cheese, to test all cheeses for potential use in our WINE of the MONTH CLUB program. For every cheese she recommends - she writes a review for us and suggests the best wine matches. Our retired cheese expert Kathy Guidi still shares some of her original reviews.
